Barjangi Sonam Jira Masino Rice

Rice is the major food amongst all the ethnic groups in Nepal. In the Terai region, most rice varieties are cultivated during the rainy season. The principal rice-growing season, known as “Berna- Bue Charne”, is from June to July; the subsidiary season, known as “Ropai”, is from April to September when there is usually enough water to sustain the cultivation of all rice fields. Farmers use irrigation channels throughout the cultivation seasons.

Sonam Jeera Masino Rice is medium-sized rice with uniform shape and size. This rice elongates to almost twice of its uncooked size. The water absorption and volume expansion of this rice is quite remarkable during cooking.
