Upakar Jeera Masino Rice

Rice is the major food amongst all the ethnic groups in Nepal. In Terai region, most rice varieties are cultivated during the rainy season. The principal rice growing season, known as “Berna- Bue Charne”, is from June to July; the subsidiary season, known as “Ropai”, is from April to September, when there is usually enough water to sustain the cultivation of all rice fields. Farmers use irrigation channels throughout the cultivation seasons.

Upakar Jeera Masino Rice: Jeera Masino rice is a naturally soft grain variety, grown in the soil of Sarlahi and Dhanusha district of Nepal. The suitability of rice for culinary use and expectation of consumer Jeera Masino rice plays a vital role in market because of its own distinctive characteristics. It is stored for one year to make soft texture palatability with accretive appearance. This variety elongates to almost twice of its natural size after cooking.
